University of Brighton COMPACT

COMPACT

The University of Brighton Compact is a partnership with over 50 schools and colleges, mainly in the south-east.

Through the Compact we support the transition from school into higher education, and provide students, parents and teachers with information and advice.

Students studying at our Compact partner schools and colleges can benefit from our workshops and impartial advice no matter which university they plan on applying to.

The University of Brighton’s Widening Participation Programme is called Compact Plus. Students from post-16 Compact partner sixth forms and colleges who meet the criteria are welcome to apply.

For more information and a link to the application form, please email compactplus@brighton.ac.uk.

Exploring Social Sciences

Are your students interested in any area of social science – such as psychology, criminology or social work?

Our Exploring Social Sciences taster programme offers students the opportunity to try out a number of different areas of the Social Sciences, with several half-day lecture events, culminating in a full day conference that will bring all the areas together and allow them to apply their knowledge to a topical issue in a University level seminar.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore a University campus and meet with current staff and undergraduates.

The sessions are appropriate for individuals or groups of students in year 12 or 13 (college/sixth form) or studying 'Access to HE' courses, interested in studying any Social Science course at any University.

  • Taster 1: Psychology and Social Policy – 27th February 2019, 9.30-1.30
  • Taster 2: Criminology and Politics – 13th March 2019, 9.30-1.30
  • Taster 3: Sociology and Social Work – 20th March 2019, 9.30-1.30
  • Exploring Social Sciences Conference – 27th March 2019, 9.30-3.30

Priority is given to students meeting Widening Participation criteria - we do expect these events to be fully subscribed, so please book now if interested! If you are interested in bringing non-WP students please contact us to discuss.
