Amanda Jackson - Assistant Headteacher / SENCO
I trained as a PE teacher at Bedford PE College. Whilst I was training I also worked as a Youth Worker running groups for students with Special Educational Needs and young people at risk of offending. Both these experiences fuelled a passion for supporting those with additional needs. To compliment this work I undertook a Post Graduate Certificate in Special Needs and Management.
After my first year of teaching I moved to Brighton to work in an educational unit attached to a children’s home. From here I worked in Pupil Referral Units across West Sussex providing support for vulnerable learners and Looked After Children. In 2000 I became Head Of Centre. During this time I completed my National Qualification for Head Teachers.
In 2006 I was approached by the Head Teacher of TBCC to join the school as the Director of Learning Support and Development. I had no hesitation in making the move as the schools ethos, values and culture were ones I had long admired. I am now an Assistant Head Teacher with responsibility for Learning Support and Development and Safeguarding
