A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people and prepares them for their future careers by helping them to become 'work ready'. It is a high quality work experience placement including work preparation training with English and maths qualifications, giving 16 to 24 year olds the skills and experience that employers are looking for to help them secure an apprenticeship or other employment. Traineeships can last up to a maximum of six months with the content tailored to the individual's needs including:
• A work experience placement (between 100 and 240 hours) to give the young person the skills and experience that employers are looking for.
• Work preparation training which ensures young people are ready and have the confidence to take the first step in their career and securing employment.
• Maths and English support, if needed, to help young people get the skills they need to boost their chances of getting sustainable employment.
• The opportunity to build a CV and get experience with local and national employers, where they are able to learn about the business and the industry it operates in.
