Google G Suite

Gsuite 1

What is Google Suite for Education?

Google Suite for Education G:Suite is a suite of tools that allows students and teachers to collaborate in real-time - a set of education productivity tools from Google including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Classroom, and more used by tens of millions of students and teachers around the world. Pupils will use their G Suite accounts to complete assignments, communicate with their teachers.

Why is Thomas Bennett using G:Suite?

G:Suite provides the ability for students and teachers to communicate, store files and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations from school or home, all within a secure “closed campus” online environment. It is important to remember an educational Google account is structured and managed differently to a “consumer” or “personal” Google account.

We will use a special version of the core G:Suite Apps to provide a secure learning intranet for our pupils and staff.  Pupils will use a Gmail login to access our system servers and the intranet and internet in school. With school Gmail and Google Docs, for example, work and emails cannot be shared with external email accounts, only with others within @TBCC-tkat.org - the school’s Google domain.

Google Cloud does contain much of the electronic work that your child completes in school. By logging in at home, using the same login as at school, your child can continue working on projects started in school, often using one of the main apps of G:Suite, Google Classroom.

How can I use G:Suite to support my child's learning?

We encourage parents to sit down with their children to look at the school work stored within their child’s Google Drive and Classroom, just as we encourage pupils to share their work with their parents. Parents can also get daily or weekly emails about the tasks assigned to their child.
