Dylan Hanslow - Performance from the ESAA XC

Dylan Hanslow ran his first race for the Sussex team junior boys.  345 U15 boys stood on the start line for a fast flat course at the Norflok Showground, mild conditions with very little mud, meant the English Schools' Cross Country Championships were a test more suited to track runners as the races were a test of sustained speed rather than mastering any change of terrain.

After the usual tight start, a competitor directly in front of Dylan lost his footing, this resulted in Dylan and three other boys all being taken down. Luckily Dylan did not sustain any injuries. However, it did result in him now being swallowed up in the main body of runners. He fought to regain his original good position and made a valiant effort. Nevertheless, in the mass of boys Dylan came in 216th.

This was a fantastic experience for him and an opportunity to run with some of the best youth runners Sussex has to offer. Also as one the youngest runners he is still young enough to run in the same age group next year.
