Sports Day 2016

On Thursday the four houses competed against each other battling to win the Sports Day trophy. The day started with the 75m hurdles, where Mitchell Condon, Connor Tearle and Sydnee Brain all stormed to victory in their races. In the 100m there were three outstanding performances from Danai Murrell and Callum Chesworth. Jette Tabot, winner of the outstanding female athlete award, destroyed her opponents to claiming the 100m crown. In the 200m once again Danai defeated her fellow opponents, while Bradley Campbell, Jack Brand and Jack Lambert all displayed blistering pace as they finished a clear distance from the other competitors. Another noticeable victory on the day was Dylan Hanslow breaking the Year 7 1500m record (4m50.95) previously held by Tom Thayre. In the field, three records were broken. Megan Haynes threw 7.11m in the shot putt and in the high jump Callum Chesworth jumped to victory with 1.30m. Fay Steers excelled in discus breaking a record set since 1983 with a throw of 21.51m. The outstanding male athlete of the day was won by Jack Lambert who was victorious in all his events.
