Forest School Assistant

In particular the Forest School Assistant is expected to:
• To enjoy working with children and to be a positive role model.
• To be an inclusive practitioner.
• Work within the parameters given by Forest School Lead.
• To understand and have a love of the outdoors, especially the woodland. To be keen to learn
more.
• Set up and clear away Forest School.
• Follow all safety procedures and risk assessments to keep children safe.
• Follow routines, boundaries and rules to ensure the safety and good behavior of the
children. Promote positive behaviour.
• Understand the child-initiated nature of Forest school and work within this to resource it
appropriately and offer a high level of challenge.
• To share information and feedback to staff when appropriate.
• To actively promote our school values.
• To liaise with other staff regarding the needs of individuals.
• To regularly check and maintain tools as necessary.
• To adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
• To help with keeping records
• To help, as required, with monitoring children’s responses to learning activities through
observation and by providing objective and accurate feedback on child
• Engage with continuous professional development and to keep any qualifications up to date.
All members of the team are expected to take shared responsibility for enabling children to
reach their full potential, and seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in the
school.
